Business Gateway Advice
The first booking when we opened the new Drymen Business Hub was a tourism conference hosted by Business Gateway and Step Scotland. During their visit the Business Gateway team asked if Simon Orr one of their Business Advisors could use the facility to meet new businesses from the local area. We were delighted to agree and the arrangement is working really well.
We’ve asked Simon a few questions about his experiences at Drymen Business Hub, here they are with his answers… Simon’s Contact details are below, or email him at sorr@stepscotland.co.uk
1. How often do you work from Drymen Business Hub?
As a Business Advisor from Business Gateway Stirling I run a 1-2-1 surgery in the Drymen Business Hub once a month to meet with those wishing to start their own business or those who need help to grow.
2. Why is it important to use Drymen Business Hub, as a place to meet new businesses?
43% of Stirling businesses are rurally based and we all know time is limited for business owners. In order for Business Gateway Stirling to truly help rural businesses, business hubs like the Drymen hub are crucial. They allow us to support new and growing businesses in their local area.
3. How have you found the facilities?
The Drymen Hub has everything a Business Advisor needs to meet with businesses. Car parking, internet connectivity and a comfortable environment makes for the perfect space for me to help support businesses.
4. Tell us about the type of businesses that you have been meeting with?
I have seem a varied types of businesses at the Hub from consultants, to retail businesses and tourism sector.
5. What differences are there (if any) between the businesses that you meet in the city, to the rural ones?
Challenges that rural business face are unique and different to those of city center businesses. For instance where city centre businesses often have problems with parking, rural businesses have problems with transportation links to their business. It’s important for us to ensure that rural businesses are kept informed, able to participate and benefit from support programs available
